Course Description: Have you wondered about the impact global warming may have on life on our planet and your health in particular? Are you thinking of a career in the medical or environmental fields? This course will study the interactions between humans and the environment. During the first semester, environmental science topics will be covered including water and air pollution, ecosystem, biodiversity, waste management and energy conservation. The physical, chemical and biological parameters of Millcreek stream will be explored and assessed. Current events issues that apply to local environmental conditions will be included as they arise. The second semester will focus on human anatomy. It is a survey of the various body systems and will include dissection, group work and projects to expand upon the lecture material. This course offers an excellent foundation for the Anatomy and Physiology and the Advanced Placement Environmental Science courses.
