American Civics and Geography

American Civics investigates the nature of political institutions and the relationship between citizens and their government at the local, state, and national levels. This course will broaden students’ understanding of government by examining participatory citizenship, personal responsibility and the law, and public policy making in the context of historical forces that have shaped our government as well as current national leaders and their policies. Students will also examine the Constitution’s affect on our political and cultural climate, both past and present. Students will experience the diversity of our world through the study of Geography and discover the challenges of our modern world through the examination of various cultures, climates, environments, governments, landforms, regions, and resources of the world.
